2024 City AM Dragon Awards

ABOUT THE AWARDS

The City AM Dragon Awards, held under the auspices of the Lord Mayor of the City of London for nearly 40 years, celebrate inacredible examples of social impact across the business community. Named after the dragons that mark the boundaries of the City of London, the awards recognise businesses making a significant social contribution. In 2024, for the first time, City A.M. organised and hosted the awards, partnering with Streets Consulting in an advisory role.

THE CHALLENGE

City AM sought to enhance the impact and profile of the Dragon Awards, ultimately to deliver a commercially successful celebration of those ‘doing good by doing business’.

To achieve this, City AM needed a partner to help them build awareness of the awards, drive the required number of award nominations and ceremony attendees, and shape and manage both the award entries and criteria as well as the assessment process.

In addition, clear messaging was required to inspire engagement from the top thinkers and do-ers, who align with the ambition and intention of making a meaningful impact, to enter the awards.

THE CAMPAIGN

Our work was delivered under a challenging time constraint of six weeks before the awards ceremony took place.

We developed and delivered a comprehensive campaign to ensure the awards were a resounding success. Key elements included:

  • Messaging and communications: within two days we drafted all the necessary copy for the awards website and all email campaigns to secure submissions.
  • Nomination & judging: We finalised 12 awards categories, and designed a clear nomination and judging process. We identified and secured eight judges, all leaders in their fields, and leading the way in social impact.
  • Industry outreach: We implemented an email and social media campaign targeting CityAM’s database, and managed invitations and nominations outreach, targeting over 250 contacts.
  • Keynote speakers: We researched and helped secure the host, judging panel, and keynote speaker. Pinar Ozcan, Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Said Business School, Oxford, hosted the awards.

THE RESULTS

Our efforts culminated at the Dragon Awards ceremony, held at the iconic Mansion House, on 18th November 2024.

The industry gathered to honour 12 winners from 48 finalists, chosen from over 200 submissions. The awards highlighted inspiring achievements, from offender rehabilitation and workplace inclusion to advancements in healthcare, impact investing, and environmental sustainability.

These stories of positive change underscored the transformative power of corporate responsibility, proving businesses can drive meaningful social progress while fostering stronger connections with their communities and stakeholders.
