SEC MIFID II No-Action Letter expiry: what next for asset managers?

The SEC will allow their MiFID II No-Action letter to expire in July 2023 putting over $100m of annual research payments at risk. What’s more, it will lead to decreasing competition in the research market, which has already been hit by MiFID II’s deflationary effects on research pricing. Ethnic minority entrepreneurs have received just 1.7% of investment capital since 2009, with black founders receiving 0.24% and black female founders 0.02%. As part of Ethical Equity's mission to close the inequality gap in funding, we held a workshop on 8 July in Bristol, equipping five founders with the tools they need to deliver a compelling pitch.
