Now 3 months into my new role as MD, it’s been great meeting clients, industry contacts and partners in person on the fintech circuit, with the conference season well and truly upon us! As a team, we are supporting our clients’ return to physical events and are truly immersed in the latest discussions across capital markets, fintech, payments, digital assets, diversity and more. It’s great to see the government’s commitment to the fintech industry, shared with us all during UK FinTech week recently. Given my personal involvement with the launch of The Kalifa Review of UK Fintech just over a year ago, I have penned my thoughts on the progress we have seen and what we can expect next.

The FIX EMEA Trading Conference returned to London with many clients attending the event and participating in debates on latest industry developments. BMLL, Iress and FlexTrade shared the themes that stood out for them at the conference, reflected on product developments and fintech partnerships forged during the pandemic and shared areas of future focus.
During the CryptoCompare Digital Asset Summit, the FCA made an announcement regarding the Temporary Registration Regime, that allows cryptoasset firms, who have applied to be registered with the FCA, to continue trading. CryptoUK Chief Executive, Ian Taylor, commented on the critical repercussions for UK crypto businesses as a result.
For the past 9 years we have been mentoring the fintech firms participating in Accenture’s Fintech Lab, helping them develop and deliver compelling pitches for an audience of potential investors, partners and clients. Themed around “FinTech for Good” for its 10th anniversary, Accenture welcomed 14 new FinTechs to the 2022 edition of the FinTech Innovation Lab London.
The Investment Association recently selected five firms to participate in their Engine Innovator Programme, to drive innovative solutions for the investment management sector. For the last three years we have been mentoring the applicant firms to construct resonant pitches and deliver them with confidence to an audience of industry experts and judges.
Almost a quarter of Britons are ready to invest in tokens or NFTs this year, according to a nationally representative survey of 2,000 people commissioned by Tokenise. The survey pinpoints shifting attitudes towards newer digital assets highlighting that tokens are at a critical tipping point.
The Association of National Numbering Agencies recently passed two important milestones - 40 years of ISIN and 30 years as an association. To mark the occasion, ANNA created a series of Q&As and videos with the management team, current and former board members, and the member organisations.
Supporting StreetChild’s efforts to provide education to vulnerable children in conflict zones
Streets Consulting has been a long standing supporter of StreetChild and our CEO Julia Streets serves as a Board Trustee. In April, we took a table at StreetChild’s Spring Gala Dinner and Julia hosted the evening to help raise vital funds to ensure that children are safe, in school and learning – especially in low-resource environments, emergencies and conflict zones.

The Trade MiFID II Roadshow 2022

The Streets Consulting team will be attending The Trade’s MiFID II Review Roadshow on 3rd May, 2022 which will focus on issues most relevant to the UK audience. The Roadshow will bring together industry stakeholders, market participants, regulators and MiFID II experts to explore the expected changes to MiFID II and look at how these will translate into a UK context, how UK markets will operate in parallel with Europe and how the updates might impact the world of trading.
